Information http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=323 http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=323#comments Thu, 19 Aug 2010 12:18:15 +0000 admin http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=323 Spatovo Village is where the roots of the Kamenarov family tree are. It is located: 3 km from the highway E-79 (direction towards Melnik), 5 km from the town of Melnik (direction towards Sandanski).

The site Igralishteto is about 200 m from the center of the village (direction towards Sklave – by the hot mineral spring).

  • In the past the Bulgarian choreographers and folklorists wanted to place the folklore art on stage. Today, in year 2010, for the third time we put the question: “How to bring it back from the stage to the people?”
  • Remove the modern artist-audience barrier, This helps the “spectators” to accept this traditional culture in a new and different way.
  • An event, close to the past in spirit and vision, taking the participants back in time. The aim is to help the old people recall the values, lifestyle and culture of their ancestors, and the youth to participate, feel and remember their good spirits.
  • A traditional fair, bringing together the participants, who interact in a simple and unprejudiced manner through music, songs, dances and food.
  • Attracting investments to the local traditions in the form of prizes or financial support to the participants. The goal is to invest, even minimally for a start, in folklore and crafts, to create possibilities for development, popularization and continuation of the tradition, mainly to preserve its character, values and spirit.
  • The fair sums up all Leb I Vino`s activities so far, it is an invitation for partiality to the problems of the source folklore and its function in the modern society. Special guests are all those people, who bring the “source”, from which Leb I Vino draw their inspiration and knowledge.

Rules http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=361 http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=361#comments Wed, 18 Aug 2010 02:24:15 +0000 admin http://lebivino.com/lv/?p=361 Leb I Vino Fair is not a mainstream festival, the aim is to not have performers and audience, there is no stage and microphones.

You are invited to singing, playing and dancing contests, which are not competitions, as there are no awards or rankings.

The goal of the fair is to restore the tradition of the ancient fairs, where everyone is a participant and a spectator at the same time.

Please, carry your modern-day necessities (handbags, personal belongings, cell-phones) in handmade bags, saddlebags or baby slings!

You should respect and accept several very IMPORTANT rules:

  1. You must bring a handmade cover to sit on (rug, carpet, etc., handmade ONLY).
  2. Every participant must wear a complete traditional costume. People without costumes will not be admitted, even if they are group leaders. We ask the “leaders”, chauffeurs, assistants, secretaries, chairs and others to wear costumes as well. Please, be informed, that this year partial costumes ARE NOT allowed.
  3. DO NOT bring packaged food, plastic bags, nylon, plastic boxes, newspapers or any factory-made food. The dishes for the Country Lunch contest should be arranged in traditional vessels (wooden or brass vessels, pottery, etc.).
  4. There is no schedule for the performances. Every participant is free to decide when to perform if the overall mood allows it.
  5. Everyone, who is invited, should participate from start to finish. Your part does not end after your own song or dance performance. Wearing costumes is mandatory at all times.
  6. Authentic behavior (traditional singing or dancing style, an effort to learn from older participants). Modern folklore dancing and singing styles are not tolerated. Every guest-participant must adhere to the traditional style and use the time spent here to learn something new, something close to the local style, and not to spoil the overall look of the fair by using ballet choreographic style.

There will be symbolic rope enclosures. Only people, who meet the festival requirements, may come in to sing, dance, play or watch the official concert. Guests, who can not or would not get a costume, must stay outside the enclosure as viewers.

The dishes must be traditional to the region, made from original old recipes, they must taste and look good. They are presented to the jury for tasting between after the beginning of the festival.

    4. The taste

    Pretty Lass & Madcap Lad

The aim of the contest is engaging more people (relatives and friends of the lad and lasses) with the traditional culture and popularizing the values and style of the source folklore.

The overall presentation of the contestants must be based on the authentic and on what they know from their mothers and grandmothers. The height, sizes or walk will not be evaluated. All that matters is the typicalness and the aura of the contestant. The jury will consist of local young men and women.

    Conditions for participating:

    1. Age from 13 to 33
    2. Traditional costume
    3. Minimal dancing, singing or story-telling skills in a dialect form, cooking skills
    4. Make-up is not allowed

The evaluation will be based on:

    1. Authenticity of the costume and taste in the selection of details
    2. Character and demeanour of the contestants, typicalness and traditional nature of their expression, speech and view of life.

    5. Stone throwing (for the lads)

    Conditions for the jury

    1. Upon entering the fair every lass or lad will receive a symbolic handkerchief, which must be kept and given to the person, considered worthy of winning. The contests take place during the festival. In the past the lasses and lads used to give their handkerchief to the one they liked. So it will be at the Leb I Vino festival. The contestant, who receives the highest number of handkerchiefs, will be the winner. Thus every contestant will try to impress the lasses/lads and win their acknowledgement.
    2. Elena and Yane Kamenarovi will have the right of a secondary casting of the contestants, regulating the contests according to the rules – authenticity and completeness of the costume, authenticity of the performances, lack of make-up, traditional singing and dancing skills.
    3. For example, a contestant, lacking the opintsi (sandals) or wearing make-up, or performing without authenticity, is not allowed to win, even with the highest number of votes.
